Micro needling, also know as skin needling, is a non-surgical, non-laser treatment that encourages new collagen and elastin production. Micro needling stimulates the self-repairing property of the skin and is a 100% natural form of skin renewal from the inside out.
How It Works
The needles used create invisible, vertical, micro-perforations into the epidermis and top layer of the dermis. As a result, the skin starts producing collagen and elastin to repair these micro-perforations by immediately increasing the formation of new tissue, as well as releasing growth factors that promote repair and healing.
In addition to activating cell regeneration, it also provides a clear channel for topical gels and serums into the skin during and after the treatment. The micro needling device, works with an adjustable needle size from .2 to 2.0mm and is therefore ideal for all types and areas of treatment. Skin becomes firmer and regains elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced, and pores appear smaller. Sun/age spots, stretch marks, acne, chicken pox and surgical scarring are visibly improved.
A topical numbing cream is applied prior to treatment, so there is little pain involved during and after treatment. The total healing time depends on the severity of the damaged skin and the depth of repair process required. On average, patients have some slight pinkness (like a mild sunburn) for two to four days. Some patients heal completely in 24 hours. Results can be noticed in as little as four to six weeks. For optimal results, most patients require two to six total treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart.
There is no downtime with this procedure, however its likely you will look like you have a sunburn for 24-48 hours following your treatment. To calm your skin, apply 100% Aloe Vera gel. It is also suggested that hyaluronic acid is applied to help plump and smooth the skin. Avoid sun exposure and facials for two weeks post treatment.
As with many skin care procedures, multiple session are likely needed to get to your desired results. Skin needling typically requires two to six sessions.
